Welcome to Windows
on Asia, a website for K-12 teachers interested in bringing Asia
into the classroom. This site was created by the Asian Studies Center
to provide material to assist teachers of all levels (K-12) in integrating
Asian themes into their classes. It provides brief descriptions
on important aspects of Asia in general, as well as more detailed
information on each individual country in Asia; it features teaching
modules and links to important web resources, many of which also
contain teaching modules. Students of all ages may also find this
a useful starting point for their research on Asia.
This site is
a constant work in progress as new material, especially new teaching
modules, will be added as teachers themselves use and experiment
with the teaching of Asia in the K-12 classroom. The intent is to
make the site as useful as possible; thus it will be reviewed frequently
to add and delete links to other web sites as they become, or cease
to be, available. Feedback from users is welcomed so that we know
what is useful, what isn't, and how we can improve the site.
Why
should we teach and learn about Asia?
What
could we teach about Asia in elementary, middle and high school?
